Trees rarely fail without warning, but the signs are easy to miss if you don't know what to look for. It's worth getting a tree checked if you spot any of the following:
Catching these problems early usually results in a tree being “made safe” with pruning rather than felling. Ignoring these signs can turn a simple job into an urgent one.
All of our tree work is carried out to the guidelines set out in British Standard BS 3998:2010 Tree Work: Recommendations. This is the British Standard that sets out good practice for tree work, from choosing the right operation to making each cut correctly.
For you, it means every recommendation we make is based on established good practice rather than guesswork. Because the standard treats every cut as a wound, we remove only what's needed and never carry out lopping or topping.
It also means tree felling is treated as a last resort. If pruning or another approach will solve the problem, we'll tell you.
1. Survey: we visit your premises to assess the tree and site access.
2. Advice: we explain your options, including any alternatives to felling.
3. Written quote: you receive a clear price in writing before anything is booked in.
4. Checks: we handle any permissions and conduct a thorough habitat assessment.
5. Completion: the work is carried out safely, the site is cleared and you receive a written invoice.
Before any work begins, it's important to know whether a tree is covered by a Tree Preservation Order or sits within a conservation area. Working on a protected tree without the right consent is a criminal offence, even on your own property.
We can help you with TPO and Conservation Area applications, taking the stress out of the process so the work can proceed legally.
Trees provide shelter and food for nesting birds, roosting bats, insects and fungi, and tree work can disturb them if it isn't planned properly. To reduce that disturbance, we carry out a habitat assessment on every site in accordance with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
If we find an active nest or signs of roosting bats, we adjust the timing or scope of the work to leave them undisturbed. We also help customers understand the value of wildlife in their trees, such as leaving harmless deadwood in place as a natural habitat.
Caring for trees goes hand in hand with caring for the wider environment. We aim to reduce the impact of our work by recycling 100% of the waste produced from our operations.
We also use low emission tools and biodegradable oils wherever possible. As a byproduct of our recycling, we have naturally seasoned firewood and mulch available to buy, ideal for log burners, open fires and garden borders.
Tree surgery involves climbing, chainsaws and heavy timber, so we never cut corners on safety. Our equipment is regularly checked and tested, and complies with PUWER and LOLER regulations.
Our staff complete annual refresher courses to stay up to date with health and safety regulations, and every member of the team holds a current First Aid +F certificate.
Ongoing in-house training also keeps our team up to date with industry standards and techniques.
We're covered by £10 million public liability insurance, and our staff are protected by £10 million employer's liability insurance. That gives you complete peace of mind whilst our tree surgeons are working on your property.
We carry out tree work across Nottingham including Carlton, Beeston and Worksop. Our team also covers the rest of Nottinghamshire including (but not limited to)
Arnold, West Bridgford, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Hucknall, Newark-on-Trent, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Bingham, Southwell and Keyworth.
Whether you need a single garden tree pruned or a large commercial site cleared, we can meet your needs. If you're unsure whether you're within our area, just give us a call.

Both terms describe the same profession, with arborist being the industry name and tree surgeon the one most people use. We're both, backing practical tree work with a proper understanding of how trees grow.
Look for a company that provides written quotes, carries public liability insurance and can explain the work it recommends in plain terms. Be wary of anyone who knocks on your door offering cheap “cash only” jobs, suggests topping your trees or who can't show proof of insurance.
Many domestic jobs (such as pruning a garden tree or trimming a hedge), are completed within a single day. Larger tree felling or clearance projects can take longer, and we'll give you a realistic idea of timings when we quote.
Yes, our team is equipped and trained for powerline clearance work. You should never attempt to cut branches near overhead lines yourself, as even getting close can be extremely dangerous.
It's courteous to let them know, especially if the work involves noise, machinery or branches over their garden. If we need access to their property to carry out the work, their permission will be needed first.
Often, yes. Removing broken limbs, reducing the crown to lower the load or taking out decayed wood can make a damaged tree safe again, depending on how much sound wood remains.
Whether you've got a tree that's worrying you or a hedge that's got out of hand, we'll give you honest advice and a clear written quote.
